Tala singing in the rain

As Tala becomes more accustomed to us and her home, she has her daily routine that she sticks with no matter what. Sunny day - no prob. let’s walk. Gets dark early now? no prob. let’s walk. Colder out? no prob. let’s walk. Raining? no prob. let’s walk. We had a light snow recently that she thought was a little strange, but it did not slow her down. Tala loves to walk no matter what the weather is. Or the time of day. She’s been known to go for walks late at night. The wee hours of the morning. Anytime is a good time for Tala to explore the neighborhood!

There is a fox sharing the neighborhood. Tala nor the other dogs in the homes around us like the intruder. Tala had a staring contest with Foxy from a safe distance. After more than a minute with neither backing down, Tala took matters into her own paws and showed Foxy she wouldn’t stand for an intruder in her neighborhood. Some sharp barks and Foxy scampered off into the woods. To date, Tala has not backed down from a single challenge. Of course, she hasn’t been swiped in the face yet by a cat so that may change.

Tala enjoys the beach

Tala spent a couple of days at Salisbury, Ma. beach thanks to very good friends. She experienced and enjoyed watching seagulls and pipers flying and walking close by. Although she was not a fan of sitting in the sand, she tolerated it enough to relax in the shade behind her momma. Tala did not understand why the water was trying to ‘get her’ as she enjoyed her walks sniffing new and strange smells. She did extremely well in the neighborhood and on her first overnight trip.

In my writing world, I have published my fourth book in The Adventures of Filbert & Evie series, Christmas Coal. This is a story about a shy puppy at a dog rescue in search of his furever home. This book is available now exclusively at my publisher BookBaby thru October or at my events. Check out this and all my titles. 25% goes to dog rescue!

Loves her momma

On Saturday, Tala was in charge of the house for a few hours. She had her air conditioning running and snoozed the afternoon away while Brad continued work repairing the shed. Mack came by to feed Tala and take her out. Because Momma had left her alone for a little while and sent a stranger whom she’s only seen a hundred times by now, Tala decided she wasn’t having it. She ate and promptly returned what she ate. She added to that diarrhea. Mack, Brad, and Lexi sat with Tala in the driveway for a long time. I think Tala hoped she would see Mom coming home. Eventually, Tala went back into the house to wait until Mom returned home. By the next morning everything was back to normal for her. She truly loves her Mom!

On a side note, she is very healthy and doing well. We have changed her diet to fish from chicken. We hope this will quell any further digestive issues.

In the literary world, I have published The Autumn Pumpkin, Book 3 in The Adventures of Filbert & Evie. It is a story about friendship and teamwork for ages 3-7. It is available at my book signings and through September exclusively online at BookBaby Bookshop. 25% goes to dog rescue! Check it out!

I have written book 4 in The Adventures of Filbert & Evie. I hope to have this available soon. Book 3 in The Benchmark Legacy Series, Relic Realm, is still in the writing stage.

I have several book signing events now through December! Be sure to stop by and say hi! See my Events tab on my website.

Dog Days of Summer

Tala is not a fan of the heat. What was her favorite pastime when it was hot & humid? Laying on the kitchen floor in front of the air conditioner. Update on her health: she’s doing great! Her digestive issues seem to be in the past. We’re cautiously optimistic that this time she’s good to go. That being said, we’re maintaining her diet to Honest Kitchen product. No human food and we’re certainly making sure she doesn’t eat anything off the ground on our walks. Except grass. She likes to nibble on grass.

In other news, I have completed The Autumn Pumpkin, book 3 in the Filbert & Evie series. It is at the publishers as I type this. It will be available on Amazon, Bookshop.org and elsewhere on October 2nd. However, it will be available at my signing events later this month and direct from my publisher, BookBaby.com soon. 25% of sales will go to dog rescue! I’ll post when the book is available to purchase.

The heat is on…

It’s no surprise that July is hot. As I write this, we’re under a heat advisory. My author signing planned for today has been rescheduled for August. See my Events link for all my upcoming signing events. On a positive note, this provides me with more time to write and create additional art pieces to sell!

Tala is not happy with this heat. She enjoys her daily walks in the very early morning as soon as dawn arrives. Her evening walks are not as comfortable, but we do wait until the streets are in the shade of the setting sun. During the day, we limit her walks to avoid her injuring her paw pads on the extremely hot pavement. She has come to enjoy the kitchen’s air conditioning even though she would love to be running in the sunshine. Her health has had a minor set back after it appeared she was beyond her earlier issues. She is back on Rx Clay for a short time to hopefully resolve her issues for good. Tala is in great health otherwise so we’re confident she’ll overcome the minor issue she has. We have learned her favorite activities, besides napping most of the day on the kitchen floor, is playing ball, stalking bunnies to watch them bound off, and eating ice cubes as treats. Her greatest activity is one she accomplishes without even trying - providing heartfelt joy to everyone that meets her.

Tala’s safety reminders: don’t leave animals in cars - minimize time walking on hot pavement - have plenty of drinking water available.

Change for the better!

Tala has had a tough few days with digestive issues. The Doc has her on a med to remedy this and so far, along with a strict diet, she has responded. She’s not happy with not receiving treats (Milkbones), but those might be the culprits. Other than not receiving treats, she’s back to herself today enjoying longer walks and jumping around the living room.

In other non-Tala news, I have completed my updates to my website. I’ve streamlined it to make it easier to navigate to where you want to go and to explore areas you may not have thought of. I hope you enjoy it. As the months roll by, I’ll update items to the pages so check back occasionally.

Why the change? As I’ve brought all my endeavors under one umbrella, I needed to organize to highlight each. I wouldn’t want you to miss out on what my business has to offer. Fantasy epic novels - children’s book series - clothing line in support of dog rescue - the art gallery.

The first thing you notice on the website is the color theme remains but has an edginess to it. This reflects on where Relic Realm, book 3, is headed. I still have a ways to go in the story, but Mandy struggles to control her new found powers. At the end of book 2, you read she eventually learns control. Book 3 explores her journey to that end - a very dangerous journey indeed! More to come on this on future blogs. Enjoy your day! Tala is ready for another walk and I need to continue Mandy’s journey! Take care.

So much has happened…

Since I last blogged so long ago, a lot has happened. Here is a brief summary as I get back on track. Book 2, Relic RAPTURE, released 10/1/23. It has had rave reviews and 5 STAR ratings! If you’ve read Book 1, Relic RUPTURE, this continues the tale. Kourin, Mandy, and the others come to grips with the reality of what the heck is happening at the Manchester Airport.

I released two books in my new children’s series, The Adventures of Filbert & Evie. The Garden Encounter and The Spring Strawberry. The first introduces our friends - a young chipmunk, Filbert, and a baby toad, Evie, - as they become friends even though they are from very different backgrounds. In book 2, Filbert learns what having a friend truly means when he is faced with the dilemma of sharing his prized strawberry. Both books received 5 STAR reviews!

Our beloved Molly passed away. We made her years, especially her last, as comfortable and joyful as possible. She is in doggie heaven with our beloved Dakota, keeping each other company as they watch over us. We miss them both dearly.

Recently, we adopted a new friend, Tala. You can read a brief history of Tala’s journey to us on my website. She has brought much joy to our household. and we’re happy to have the opportunity and good fortune for her to join our pack. My hope is to publish a young reader novel next year on Tala’s journey to highlight the need for dog rescue.

Meanwhile, I am working on Book 3, Relic REALM continuing Mandy’s journey as she discovers herself. I promise to keep you better updated on my progress. I’m still hopeful to have book 3 available late this year. I also have been holding signing events. Checkout my next scheduled appearances on my website. At these events I have select art available to purchase! In between writing and taking Tala for walks, I do oil paintings. I hope to have many more paintings available this autumn!

Finally, at the start of this year, I launched my clothing line - Rescue Dogs Rescue You Clothing Line and More. RDRY donates all proceeds to dog rescue! Yes, you read that right! Buy a tee shirt, sweatshirt, hoodie, cap, mug or tote from my Bonfire.com store, RDRY and the proceeds go to dog rescue to help other dogs like our Tala.

Until next time, be kind to our furry friends, checkout my books and clothing line, and enjoy the summer!

Relic Rupture Readers’ Favorite 5 Stars Review

Reviewed by Scott Cahan for Readers' Favorite Relic Rupture, by EDD Jordan, is about people in a tight-knit community affected by a mysterious bench in life-altering ways. I won’t give away what happens, but I think it’s safe to say time travel is involved, albeit not in any way I’ve ever seen in movies or books. Although the bench is the object that causes most of the conflict, the real focus of this book is the people and how they cope with difficult circumstances in their lives. The central character, Jack, the contractor responsible for building the new airport terminal that all of the characters work in, is called on by many of the others for help. One by one, they are all affected by the powers of the bench. As the story goes on, the conflicts begin to overlap and Jack finds it difficult to help each of his friends and spend time with Kourin, the new romantic interest in his life. Relic Rupture is a powerful read that somehow manages to present a large cast of characters and develop every single one of them in a deep and meaningful way. By the end of the book, I felt like I’d known each character my whole life and had become good friends with them all. I was extremely impressed with the author’s skill at character development. Even more impressive was the way the characters' stories all connect and affect each other like a masterfully sewn quilt. The supernatural element, represented by the bench, is also pretty cool. The scenes with the bench were subtle and colorful, adding to the overall beauty of Relic Rupture. This is part one of the Benchmark Legacy series. I can’t wait to read part two because Relic Rupture tells a story that is so unlike anything I’ve ever read or seen that I have no idea where the story is going. I love to be surprised, so well done to EDD Jordan. I highly recommend Relic Rupture.

Relic Rapture update

Relic Rapture 6/12 update

Good and bad news… Book 2 of the Benchmark Legacy Series, Relic Rapture, is at the publisher. Book editing is complete, the cover is in development, and formatting for print, eBook and audiobook is being completed. It will not be long now! The novel's publishing got pushed back since it's over 400 pages. The story will move forward as originally planned after some back and forth last week! I am not compromising on the quality of my final product. I cannot contain my excitement with the story line in book 2. Trust me, you won't be disappointed - it's absolutely fascinating!

Rapture continues the troubles at the Benchmark Air terminal. Our characters have a solemn duty as they attend the soft opening party: to ensure Miguel doesn’t get behind the wheel while intoxicated and endanger himself and others on the road. Meanwhile, a man from Kourin's past reappears, determined to win her over. She must fend off his unwelcome advances while grappling with her resurfaced childhood trauma. Fortunately, she has Jack at her side. As he supports her, he discovers the bench poses a more serious threat than to just those who sit on it. While Harry struggles with his past and Ubu guides Laurel, Mandy's infectious positivity is put to the test when she learns disturbing truths about herself, possibly destabilizing everything they know.

Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas!

Wishing all of you a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! I have been diligently working on Book 2 of the Benchmark Legacy Series, Relic Rapture. As of this posting it is nearly complete. If you enjoyed Book 1, Relic Rupture, you will love the conclusion. The characters are forced to confront the past and ramifications from decisions made and in some cases altered, changing the known reality. As each character’s past unfolds, the reader will not only experience their plight, but also will call to their own mind past decisions and choices that have led to their personal current point in time. My hope is for each to learn from the past, shaping decisions made today and their choices of tomorrow for a better life for all. Have a prosperous new year!

Review by Joe Yamulla @bookbabybookshop

Relic Rupture is the captivating first book of the Benchmark Legacy Series. If you haven’t heard about it yet, it’s time to add this book to your list. It’s a thoughtful examination of life that addresses the heartrending struggles of human nature. These elaborate concepts are brought to the surface through a spellbinding mystery of time travel and the opportunity to redo life’s choices. It begs the question, what would you do differently if you had the chance? Let’s dive in.

In EDD Jordan’s novel, an ancient wooden bench that has benefited humankind for ages rests at the center of a picturesque indoor garden. The relic was once a benign and profound influence on humanity’s future. But when it ruptures in transit, it opens timelines of unnerving visions for those who rest upon it. You will follow those who engage with it – two people discover love, a widower mourns the death of his wife, and a young woman relives her near death attack.

The characters in this book receive the remarkable opportunity to change what they regret, and alter their lives. But, the question is asked, will their present relationships be erased? As I read through this book and came to understand its fascinating characters, I thought a lot about this concept. I thought about human nature – and how mistakes and regret are inevitable aspects of life. If I had the chance to alter my past and address what I regret, would it be the right decision? Life, after all, is a product of mistakes – and learning from them. This book made me think about an opportunity to go back in time and redo what I regret. Although mistakes are painful, what’s worse is losing all that I’ve come to love and appreciate in the present.

Now, some might have pasts so flawed that going back and changing everything seems like a no brainer. So, as you read the book, you’ll wonder how long until someone is so unhappy with their past life that they alter their history and cause a cascade threatening all of humankind.

Relic Rupture is a game-changing novel that gets you thinking about life’s most grandiose topics. It’s filled with mystery, suspense, and wonder. I guarantee that you’ll have a hard time putting it down. Beyond being a fascinating work of fiction and the perfect introduction to an enthralling series, book sales also support a good cause. When you purchase Relic Rupture on BookBaby Bookshop, 25% of its retail price will be donated to Second Chance Ranch Rescue. You can learn more about the book and its cause by visiting the author’s website.

The Journey Begins

The journey begins.

A new chapter in my life has begun. My first novel, Relic Rupture, is in production! Before I tell you a little about that endeavor, I want to thank my lovely wife, Angie, who has been fully supportive and, most of all, encouraging me from the very first few words typed. Without her accepting me being locked away in my den for hours at a time, this work would not have been possible.

Relic Rupture explores humanity through past decisions and trauma, molding the characters into who they are today. The catalyst is an ancient bench with the mysterious power to foresee the future and assist humankind’s decisions on paths ahead. As the reader, you will discover, even with foreknowledge, the correct path is never as clear as it appears. Every decision has consequences, not just for the decision maker, but possibly for all of humankind.

Relic Rupture introduces you to individuals who are normal, average, and well liked people to all they meet. Jack: owner of Robert’s Construction building a new airport terminal. Kourin: beginning her dream of opening her first cosmetics store. Harry: Jack’s foreman. Laurel: owner of the coffee shop. Mandy: manager of the coffee shop. Each has a foundation that made them into the person they have become. The bench: a relic from a bygone era. It is damaged en route to its new home. Visions from the future, that had benefited humankind for hundreds of years, now have become visions of the past reopening well buried pain, anguish and heartrending decisions. Along the epic journey, you will discover how these and many others became the people they are today, if they can survive reliving their past.

Relic Rupture is book 1 of the Benchmark Legacy Series. Coming October 2022. Book 2, Relic Rapture, the exciting conclusion, coming Spring 2023.

Relic Rupture

It all begins with an idea.

The heartrending struggles of human nature are brought to the surface through a spellbinding mystery of time travel and the opportunity to redo life’s choices. Every day, humans make lasting decisions for love and family. Choices are often made with scant concern about the future. Sorrow, suffering, and anguish are interspersed throughout life. Life experiences make them the person they become.

Humans are not alone on their evolutionary path. They are watched. Left to their own choices, they are destructive and a danger to life itself. Unbeknownst to them, they have received guidance for millennia. Generation after generation has benefited and become better for it. Until today.

In a newly constructed New Hampshire airport terminal lies a picturesque indoor garden with a central ancient wooden bench. The relic, having benefited humankind through the ages, is damaged en route to its lush new home. Once it was a guide to humanity becoming a better version of itself. Now, those who rest upon it suffer haunting and disturbing visions from critical moments in their lives. Humanities guide has become its protagonist.

Jack Roberts labors to complete the Benchmark Air terminal to keep his business afloat. While confronting acute heartache aggravated by visions when sitting on the well-worn bench, he discovers love with Kourin. She, herself, has buried torment from her teenage years. Scars that run deep into her inner soul. Together, as their love strengthens, they struggle to understand the force behind the bench and its true motives.

While Jack discovers love, Harry, his best friend, continues his downward spiral from the death of his wife. After an enlightening experience on the bench, Harry seeks to control his visions to visit his beloved Christine. Instead, it returns him to relive his childhood of physical abuse at the hand of his alcoholic father. Harry searches how to control the bench, prevent his wife’s death, and return to the happiest days in his life. Yet, in his subconscious sits a dark secret, eating away at the thin thread of his sanity.

The owner of the terminal café, Laurel, has recurrent nightmares of a suicide bomber who killed a fellow soldier and injured many others, including herself. She regained stability through her support dog, Ubu, a four-year-old half Pitbull and half Lab who survived being left for trash in a dumpster as a puppy. Through the mysterious bench, Laurel is forced to face her attacker again. This time is different. She has her dog by her side. With Ubu’s fearlessness, she survives the attack for a second time and discovers the past can be altered. Now on a path of discovery to prevent the attack from ever happening, she strives to end the anguish of failure in her sworn duty to protect her unit.

Decades old choices and painful loss can be relived and altered. The soul's foundations can be changed. The resetting of time can erase a poor decision or a misstep taken. Yet, the consequences of changing one decision can be catastrophic. While answers are sought, the unique terminal nears full operation, opening to the public. The bench, once the benign and profound influence on the humanity equation, endangers past timelines. Lives are ruptured. The fractured force continues unabated. How long until someone dissatisfied enough with their past decisions alters their history and causes a cascade threatening all of humankind?
